Schlumberger (Stavanger Research SSR) Schlumberger has organized its research effort in five labs. Schlumberger Stavanger Research (legal entity WesternGeco AS) is located in Norway’s "oil capital", Stavanger, at the Scandinavian operations headquarters of Schlumberger. SSR’s main research topic is geophysical data analysis and model construction/update. The group's 25 scientists have expertise profiles in geophysics, geology, signal/image processing, applied mathematics, and computer science. Close proximity to the important North Sea market and to Schlumberger's substantial Norwegian software activity ensures quick time-to-market. SSR has been active in geological CO2 storage for several years, and considers CO2 monitoring and flow modelling technologies key research directions.
