The Company brings together experienced consultants with a solid track record in performance assessment for the environmental impact of technologies within the energy sector including radioactive waste disposal and carbon dioxide storage. Quintessa aims to provide the highest quality consultancy and contract research, specialising in the development and application of quantitative and qualitative techniques for integrated assessment and decision making. In Phase 1 of the Weyburn project Quintessa developed a generic database of Features, Events and Processes (
www.quintessa-online.org/co2). This is a potentially very powerful tool for performance and safety assessment of CO
2 geological storage systems. Also, Quintessa's coupled geochemistry and transport code, Raiden, has been used to better understand data obtained from a range of CO
2 storage laboratory and field experiments. Quintessa currently provides radioactive waste performance assessment services to over 40 clients in 16 countries, and aims to develop a similarly diverse client base for CO
2 storage performance assessment over the coming decade.
